Artwork by Harry Richardson

Harry Richardson was here in person for the show opening in December, and brought one of his new original watercolors.

The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown invited Harry to display some of his work there. He is in the company of other fine watercolor artists such as three generations of Wyeths.

Our Brokerage Services

Museum Shop, Ltd. just brokered the sale of this oil painting by Jean Jansem and obtained $14,000 for the happy (previous) owners!

If you have quality art for which you no longer have room, or you've inherited art that's not quite your taste, or you simply could use some extra money, please call Richard Kornemann about selling your original art at 301-695-0424.

The Museum Shop now offers restoration of textiles: handmade weavings, needlework, rugs, tapestries, quilts -- anything fabric!

Also, bring your FAMILY PHOTOS to us to have them restored and copied. The copies can be the same size as the original or made larger or smaller and make great gifts for members of the family. They can be printed in black-and-white, sepia, or color (if the original is in color).

Custom Framing

January 31st is Inspire Your Heart with Art Day! To help you celebrate, we will give a 15% discount on any framing brought in Monday through Thursday during the entire month of January!

Remember, changing the mats on your existing artwork can give it new life and is an inexpensive to update your décor.

TIP OF THE MONTH

All textiles, including any type of needlework, need to "breathe". Some traditional framing methods provide an environment that can trap moisture and promote the growth of harmful molds. We at the Museum Shop use methods recommended by the National Textile Museum.

Museum Shop to the Rescue!

We provide Disaster Restoration services, whether it's fire, flood, or a leaky roof!
We are being kept busy caring for the fine art collection of a prominent doctor in the Washington, DC area. A bad furnace fire covered everything in his home with soot and odor. Museum Shop, Ltd is cleaning all the art and restoring the oil paintings.

MUSEUMS

... The National Gallery of Art is showing Mel Bochner: Colorful Language through April 8. Also opening in the NGA's West Building on January 29 and closing May 6 is Picasso’s Drawings, 1890-1921: Reinventing Tradition. Fifty-five drawings demonstrate Picasso's transition from a classically-trained artist to a radically innovative one.

... The Sackler Gallery has acquired a large private collection of Tibetan Buddhist art, which is displayed in a special shrine room.

... Have you visited the Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia? It is an extension of the National Air and Space Museum, with a lot more space. Among many things, they have a space shuttle you can walk around, as well as the Enola Gay and countless others.
