During April's First Saturday, we welcomed a karate demonstration by Robbie Snyder and Shelley Aloi to the gallery as part of our Japanese Art show opening. Robbie (a 6th degree black belt) and Shelley are both accomplished martial artists. During the evening, they demonstrated many techniques, and gave lessons to children. Robbie will be opening his own school in Frederick soon. If you are interested in learning karate, contact him at 301-514-5484. In honor of our 50th anniversary, we will be providing a monthly Flashback to 1962. Hope you enjoy!

Sneakers are changing! White sneakers are moving aside with more varieties moving in. B.F. Goodrich now offers pairs made to match a dress in color, pattern and fabric -- in denim or ticking. Each pair comes in six shades or stripes and sells for around $4. RESTORATION Oil paintings should be examined every 10-15 years for possible cleaning and resealing, which is quite affordable. Our conservator, Richard Kornemann, will do the examination, by appointment, at no charge. If your paintings are neglected, more extensive restoration may be needed.

TIP OF THE MONTH
All art should be kept in climate-controlled rooms. High humidity causes art on paper to ripple as the paper absorbs moisture, and it also promotes the growth of mold. We are usually able to flatten the paper again, but if you put it back where it hung before, it will ripple again. On hot days, resist the temptation to open the windows; turn on the air conditioning instead. ........ Our Services
