Restoration & Conservation of Documents

Restoring documents and similar media requires extensive knowledge of fragile paper types and the chemicals used to treat them. Richard Kornemann, resident conservator at (and owner of) the Museum Shop, Ltd., has over 35 years of experience in paper conservation, and has successfully restored documents bearing the signatures of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams, etchings by Rembrandt and Albrecht Durer, and drawings by Gauguin, to name a few.

Mr. Kornemann is happy to examine your art at no charge, by appointment, at the Museum Shop, Ltd. The vast majority of his restoration work is on pieces with largely sentimental value, owned by people who wish to pass a beloved document or photograph on to their children or grandchildren.
